Co-op Evictions: New LTB process begins June 1

May 30th, 2014 by Celia Chandler

As many of you know, today marks the last day to file an application in Superior Court to evict members from housing co‑operatives. Starting June 1st, co-op evictions will be handled by the Landlord and Tenant Board. This is the end of a long relationship we have had with many housing co‑operatives in the GTA and beyond helping them make difficult eviction decisions and then process those through the court system. It has been our pleasure to work with you on these.

But our relationship with our housing co‑op clients on eviction files need not end. In addition to the court work we have been doing, we also work with many non‑profit housing clients at the Landlord and Tenant Board. Although we’ll be learning alongside you as we all find our way through the new co‑op eviction process, a system that by all accounts will be very similar to work we’ve already done. Stay tuned as the new LTB forms are released to us all on Sunday. And on Monday morning, we’ll be open for business to accept your eviction files – arrears and behavioural – just as we always have, bringing our 30+ years of housing co‑op experience to bear.

Our commitment to providing you with the quality of work you have always expected from us, with the best value for your scarce dollars, of course, continues.
